Current Action Research

Blended Services and Funding

A study is underway to determine alternative paths for students and aging adults who are interested in community employment and do not have access to dedicated public long-term support funds. The study also explores how services from multiple resources are blended in an innovative wy to meet individualized needs of customers.

Customized Employment

Research components of the TCEP project include developing a customized employment model of service delivery. The expected outcome is a model to provide customized employment services that can be replicated in One-Stop Career Centers throughout Tennessee and nationally.

Organizational Changeover to Community Employment

Since 1993, service providers have received change management consultation to align attitude, values, structure ,and delivery services to move from facility based to community based services. A third qualitative study is underway with 30 providers to determine employment impact on customers as a result of changeover efforts, and to determine employee perceptions toward organizational health, performance improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Self Determination

The Self-Determination project is studying the effectiveness of the self-determination approach toward people with disabilities applying the principles of self-determination in their transition to community work and living.

Tennessee Employment Services

Under the WorkFORCE Collaborative, original research has been performed to discover current status of employment services for Tennesseans with disabilities. Ongoing research is planned to create a standard data collection device across agencies in Tennessee regarding persons with disabilities who want to work. Further research will document a guided process of development of Interagency Understandings, possible Executive Order or Legislative Resolution, and Strategic Employment Plan.

Universal Instructional Design

Ongoing efforts trace trends in web accessibility and training formats that benefit the widest audience possible. Best practices are monitored and shared with customers and the academic environment in order to foster universal access to any informational or training product.
