The services are funded by the TN Division of Rehabilitation Services and administered by The University of Tennessee.
Carol graduated with a B.S. Education from the University of Dayton (Ohio). Her Human Resources career includes two years as an executive recruiter and 18 years as a Corporate Director of Human Resources for Buster Brown Apparel, Inc., a multi-plant (11 plants), union and non-union, vertical manufacturing operation headquartered in Chattanooga, TN. While in this position, Carol was responsible for training all supervisors in all areas of legal compliance, including the Americans With Disabilities Act, ADA. She was responsible for ensuring that all jobs were analyzed and that all job descriptions included "essential functions". In conjunction with the Engineering Department, she ensured that proper accommodations were provided for current employees with disabilities and new hires with disabilities. The Company's Affirmative Action Plan was prepared by Carol, who was responsible for educating the management regarding the Company's goals. Carol was also responsible for OFCCP audits of the Plan. Buster Brown Apparel, Inc. was dedicated to the concept of job carving for people with severe disabilities.
Following the closure of Buster Brown, Carol joined the University as a DRS Corporate Connections Account Representative in November, 2001. During her tenure with Corporate Connections, she has been very active with the Supported Employment Tennessee Placement Consortium, a group of service providers who offer job placement services to people with disabilities. Carol served as Treasurer, Awards Luncheon Assistant Chair and Chair for two years and continues to hold that office. She recruited local employers to serve on a Business Advisory Board for the Consortium. These employers are some of the largest in the area. The Board meets quarterly. Their mission is to enhance the employers' understanding of people with disabilities and the providers' understanding of employment issues. Carol is a member of SHRM and the Chattanooga Human Resources Management Association.
